New SOLAS requirements for the verified gross mass of sea containers

The International Maritime Organisation (IMO) has made changes to the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) in order to improve maritime safety and minimize dangers during sea freight transport.

By transferring the verified gross mass to the shipping company, the charterer fulfils its obligations from the SOLAS guidelines which entered into effect on 1 July 2016 and are now applicable worldwide.
